Axel is a french naval architect and designer with a passion for craftsmanship. He imbues each of his projects with a strong artisanal perspective, a singular artistic vision and an engineer’s natural taste for technicity.

Passionate about boats, Axel has received multiple prizes for those he has created, beaten a few records (nautical design award milano, yacht of the year royal ocean racing club of London, speed record around the British Islands, winner of the transat 650...) while envisioning genre-defining designs.

As comfortable in imagining a collectible wooden bike for Hermès paris (monocle design award 2021) as in designing the first sailing museum on behalf of the Art Explora foundation, since 2013 Axel has managed the Hermès horizons design studio, overseeing some of the french luxury goods manufacturer’s most remarkable projects. In parallel, he has steered the development of his own studio (launched in 2004).
